Police identify man found fatally shot in downtown Wichita, arrest another man
Wichita police have identified the 59-year-old man found fatally wounded out in his car downtown and have arrested a 56-year-old man in connection with shooting.
Officers responded to a shooting with injuries call around 11:44 Sunday morning and found Stevie Lee Young suffering from a gunshot wound in his car in the 400 block of North Market, according to police press releases.
Young was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead at 2:30 p.m.
After canvassing the downtown area and speaking with potential witnesses to the shooting, police identified a suspect, a release said. Investigators also found that the shooting happened in the 300 block of North Topeka, a few blocks away from where Young was found in his car.
Police arrested a 56-year-old shooing suspect in the 2100 block of North Wellington Place on suspicion of first-degree murder, WPD said. The Wichita Eagle does not name people who have been arrested unless they are charged by the District Attorney’s Office.
