Wichita man given maximum sentence for sexually assaulting two girls
A Wichita man has been sentenced to more than 27 years in prison for raping a Sedgwick County girl twice and later sexually soliciting another.
43-year-old Brent Wayne McDaniel received the maximum sentence allowed by law after being convicted earlier this month for two counts of rape of a child and one count of aggravated indecent solicitation of a child, a press release from the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office said.
The child sex crimes were committed against two girls in a suburb just outside Wichita and were investigated by Haysville police.
The investigation began after a 9-year-old girl told her therapist in September 2025 that McDaniel had fondled her in his semi-truck a few days earlier, according to a probable cause affidavit.
She said they were attending the Renaissance Festival in Wichita when McDaniel drove them to a casino parking lot south of the city where his semi-truck was parked, a detective with Haysville police wrote in the affidavit.
“(The 9-year-old girl) said there was only one bed in the truck, and she and McDaniel shared it,” the detective said. “(The girl) said McDaniel rubs her back, legs and stomach and that nobody other than McDaniel can touch her privates.”
In the affidavit, the girl told investigators about other incidents where McDaniel touched her genitals, or she was told to touch him.
“(The girl) said it was private, and she was not supposed to tell anyone because McDaniel told her it was just between them and it was secret,” the affidavit said.
Once the investigation began, a 19-year-old came forward to police and said the same thing had happened to her almost 10 years ago when she was the other girl’s age.
“(The 19-year-old) said she used to go on overnight rides with McDaniel in his semi-tractor, often going out of state,” the Haysville detective said. “When she and McDaniel were in the truck, they would sleep on the same bed and would be naked. Oftentimes, McDaniel would show her pornographic videos while they were together.”
Sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas when she was 10 or 11 years old, the 19-year-old girl told detectives, he had raped her.
“McDaniel told (the 19-year-old) he was doing this to teach her how to be a woman and how to make a man happy,” the affidavit said. “He said he was lonely and no man should be lonely. By teaching her things of sexual nature, he was teaching her not to be lonely.”
She told detectives the trips and touching stopped after her first period.
McDaniel was arrested in November 2025 and was originally charged with three felonies, each with a potential penalty of life imprisonment. He later pleaded no contest to the two counts of rape, committed between November 2016 and December 2017, and the aggravated indecent solicitation of a child in September 2024.
McDaniel was sentenced by Sedgwick County District Court Judge Jeffrey Goering to 330 months, or 27 and a half years, the maximum sentence allowed, the DA’s press release said.
He will also have to register as a sex offender for life and will be subject to lifetime post-release supervision.
