A Wichita man walking on Interstate 135 early this morning has been hospitalized after being struck by a car.

A Sedgwick County 911 dispatcher said they received multiple calls around 1:40 a.m. that a man was lying on I-135, just north of Murdock, according to Sedgwick County Emergency Communications 911 scanner traffic.

The driver of the vehicle left after hitting the man, a 21-year-old from Wichita, according to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol. The 21-year-old was taken to a local hospital in serious condition.

Investigators were able to estimate the vehicle’s year, make and model from parts left at the scene of the collision; it was described in the report as a 2015 Honda Accord.

The collision is being investigated by the Kansas Highway Patrol.
