Woman shot in the head in north Wichita; police look for shooter

A 22-year-old woman was shot in the head at a north Wichita apartment complex early Tuesday, and the suspected shooter was still on the loose that afternoon, Wichita police said in a press release.

The shooting happened in the parking lot of Brickstone at Woodlawn near 21st Street shortly before 2:46 a.m., according to Sedgwick County Emergency Communications 911 scanner traffic, which is based on preliminary information and subject to change.

A 22-year-old woman who had been shot in the head was taken to a hospital where she remains in critical condition, the WPD press release said.

Investigators said in the release an unidentified person fired several shots after a large disturbance in the parking lot. They’re continuing to interview witnesses to determine what happened before the shooting.
