Two teens charged in connection with Derby robbery and shooting
Two teenagers were charged with robbery and attempted murder after a person was shot in Derby last week.
The shooting happened around 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 17 during a sale that was pre-arranged online, the Derby Police Department said in a social media post. While meeting near the 200 block of Overlook, the victim entered a vehicle and was shot, the department’s post said.
The victim was able to get out of the vehicle and go to an emergency room. The driver of the vehicle left, the law enforcement agency said.
Working with Wichita police, Derby police detectives soon found a vehicle in Wichita that they think was connected to the incident. 18-year-old Marco Garcia was taken into custody March 18, and 19-year-old Angel Sebastian was arrested the next day.
Garcia was charged on count one of aggravated robbery. He’s being held on a $500,000 bond.
Sebastian, who was previously released on bond after an arrest for interfering with law enforcement in 2025, was charged with one count of aggravated robbery, attempted second degree murder, aggravated battery and criminal possession of a firearm.
Both teens are due in court again on April 6.
