An 18-year-old Wichita woman was arrested after a domestic disturbance left a 69-year-old man hospitalized with cuts on his head Monday.

The disturbance was reported around 5 p.m. Monday evening in the 600 block of North Poplar, Wichita Police public information officer Brad Wright said in an email to the Eagle.

It was first reported as a cutting, according to Sedgwick County Emergency Communications 911 scanner traffic.

“When officers arrived, they found a 69-year-old Wichita man with lacerations to his head,” Wright wrote. “He was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.”

The person suspected of cutting the 69-year-old, an 18-year-old Wichita woman, had already left the scene, Wright said. She was later found near East 12th and North Poplar. The two knew each other, he said.

The teen was arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery/domestic violence, Wright said, and was taken to the Sedgwick County Jail. The Wichita Eagle does not name individuals who have been arrested unless they are formally charged by the district attorney’s office.

Wright asked that anyone with additional information contact detectives at 316-268-4407 or leave an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
