A second person has been arrested in a Dec. 27 homicide, which occurred during a suspected home invasion, according to arrest records released Friday.

A 67-year-old man was also critically injured in the shooting in the 100 block of North Ash, just north of Wichita East High School. It happened around 8:20 p.m.

Police previously arrested a man they said was a neighbor — a woman had also been arrested, but on drug charges — and said they were looking for a second suspect, who fled on foot.

A 39-year-old Wichita man was arrested Thursday in the shooting, which took the life of 52-year-old Markus C. Adkins. The man was arrested in the 1600 block of South Oliver on suspicion of first-degree murder in the commission of a felony, aggravated battery, aggravated burglary and criminal possession of a weapon.

Matthew D. Morgan, who was arrested at the scene, has been charged with second-degree murder, unintentional but reckless, in the killing, court records show. Police previously said the 54-year-old was a neighbor to where the shooting happened, though arrest records list him at a different address.

Police also previously arrested a 42-year-old woman, whose arrest records show her as living in the same block as the victim.
