A Wichita man was sentenced to 220 months in prison last week after police found eight guns, nearly six pounds of meth and nearly $70,000 in cash in his bedroom.

64-year-old Timothy Daniel Finley pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine after Wichita Police received a tip in March 2023 that drugs were being sold at a South Hydraulic home, according to a news release from the United States Attorney’s Office.

During an early morning SWAT team raid, authorities found 2,661 grams, or almost six pounds, of meth; $68,736 in cash; several guns; and other drug-dealing materials in a bedroom belonging to Finley.

A police raid in south Wichita turned up several firearms, more than nine pounds of methamphetamine, other drugs and over $68,000 in cash. Police said six people were arrested.

According to the initial complaint, Finely was also in possession of 656 fentanyl pills, marijuana and amphetamine.

“Illegal drugs like fentanyl and methamphetamine destroy lives and ruin families,” U.S. Attorney Ryan Kriegshauser said in the release. “We are putting criminals who are operating drug trafficking networks in Kansas on notice to prepare for severe consequences.”

Finley was initially arrested on more than seven charges, including on suspicion of possessing paraphernalia and other alleged crimes related to firearm possession and driving without a license plate or registration, according to court documents. But the one count of possession with intent to distribute meth was the only part of the indictment not dismissed by the courts.

The court recommended he be sent to Federal Correctional Institution, Sandstone in Sandstone, Minnesota, to receive substance abuse treatment and for access to vocational training.

The case, the Attorney’s Office said, was investigated by Wichita police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
