A 27-year-old Wichita woman has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the Dec. 8 killing of her 4-year-old son, police said.

Tyne Vallen Blunt was booked into Sedgwick County Jail at 12:34 p.m. Tuesday.

On Wednesday afternoon, she made her first appearance in Sedgwick County District Court, where she is charged with one count of first-degree felony murder and two counts of aggravated endangering of a child, court records show.

Officers responded to a medical call about an unresponsive 4-year-old child around 3:21 p.m. Dec. 8 in the 2600 block of South Topeka, near Pawnee and Broadway. Tiuri Blunt-Porrata was taken to a Wichita hospital in critical condition and pronounced dead at 4:07 p.m. the same day.

Police previously arrested a 34-year-old man, who they said is an acquaintance of the mother’s. That man, Daniel Prayed Martin, was charged a few days later with first-degree felony murder and two counts of child abuse.

He remained jailed Wednesday. Martin’s address is in the 2600 block of South Topeka, arrest records show. Blunt has the same address, according to a jail booking report.

Martin’s next court date is scheduled for Dec. 22. Blunt is due back in court on Dec. 29.
