Police identify victim in Wichita city bus shooting
Wichita police have confirmed the identify of the 54-year-old man who was shot and killed on a Wichita city bus Thursday.
Reginald Griffith died after he was shot in his upper body on a city bus at South Meridian and West Burton. Police responded at 3:34 p.m. Thursday; Griffith was pronounced dead at the scene, Wichita police Public Information Officer Brad Wright said.
Police took a 34-year-old man who was on the bus into custody. Wright said there was no ongoing threat to the public.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim and the suspect were known to each other,” Wright said.
According to Wright, the bus was moving when a single shot was fired. There were five people, including the bus driver, on the bus at the time of the shooting.
