Wichita police are hoping the community can help identify and find a woman they say was taken by force from the 1400 block of North Volutsia, near 13th and Grove, over the weekend.

The department shared on its Facebook page images and video footage of a woman being pulled away from a home by a man who forces her down a driveway as she struggles and screams. The woman was last seen around 2 a.m. Sunday, police say.

“The incident was reported to police at 7:48 p.m. that same day,” Wichita police said on Facebook. “Your assistance is vital in helping us ensure her safety.”

Despite several tips, investigators had not yet identified her or the man by 4:30 p.m. Monday, police said. They released a video clip showing the apparent abduction in response.

“Exploring all options, we’ve reached out to our regional and federal law enforcement partners for additional assistance,” the department said on Facebook. “Our team has processed the audio, reducing background noise, hoping that someone will recognize her voice.”

Anyone who recognizes the woman or who has any information about her whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately. Tips can also be given directly to WPD investigators at 316-268-4407 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
