A 39-year-old Halstead man has been arrested in the Friday morning hit-and-run that left a 31-year-old woman critically injured, Wichita police said.

The man was booked into Sedgwick County Jail just before 6 p.m. Friday. He remained jailed Saturday afternoon.

Flock license plate readers led police to the vehicle involved in the wreck, which took place at 3:58 a.m. in the 600 block of North Oliver, near Central, police spokesperson Rick Pena said. First responders found a woman “lying in the roadway who appeared to have been struck by an unknown vehicle,” Pena said. She was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

The man was later arrested in the 600 block of South Leonine in west Wichita, arrest records released Saturday morning show.

“The vehicle had visible damage consistent with the crash,” Pena said.

The Wichita Eagle does not identify suspects until they are charged.
