Man arrested, accused of pointing gun at school buses in Wichita
A 43-year-old man was arrested Thursday after Wichita police received a report of someone pointing a gun at passing cars and school buses.
Officers responded around 4:45 p.m. Thursday to the 1600 block of East Lincoln after receiving a call that a man in a white Cadillac was pointing a gun at school buses near Lincoln and Hydraulic and Lincoln and Mead.
Officers found the man had exited his vehicle while stopped at a train crossing and pointed a weapon at passing vehicles and school buses, according to police spokesperson Brad Wright. It’s not known if children were in the school buses at the time.
Wichita police arrested the man near East Lincoln and South Edgemoor and recovered his weapon. The man has since been booked in the Sedgwick County jail on suspicion of aggravated assault with a firearm and other charges, Wright said.
Wright encouraged anyone with information about the incident to call detectives at 316-268-4407 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
