Salina police said Tuesday that the 47-year-old teacher, Amanda Lynne Freeman, had been booked into the Saline County Jail on suspicion of felony contributing to a child’s misconduct, aggravated endangerment of a child, distribution of marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful social hosting, and furnishing alcohol to a minor.
Freeman was booked into the jail at 3:05 p.m. Tuesday. She was released at 9:11 p.m. that same day, jail booking records show.
Police said in a news release that a 16-year-old boy’s parent contacted the Salina Police Department over the weekend after finding “suspicious text messaging” between Freeman and their son.
The subsequent police investigation, conducted in cooperation with the local public school district, determined the teacher “had furnished the juvenile, and possibly other juveniles, with alcohol and THC products,” the release says.
THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the main psychoactive substance in cannabis. It is illegal in Kansas.

Freeman’s first appearance in court is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Thursday. There was no attorney information listed for her in court records Wednesday.
