Authorities investigate 43-year-old man’s death after shooting, crash near Haysville

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an early Sunday morning crash and shooting that left a 43-year-old Haysville man dead.

Authorities were alerted to the crash in the 7700 block of South Broadway near Haysville just before 3 a.m. through an automated crash alert from a mobile device in the area, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. An SUV with two passengers had crashed into a tree.

“When first responders entered the vehicle, they found a 43-year-old Haysville man with gunshot wounds,” the release said. “Sedgwick County EMS took him to a local hospital in critical condition, where he later died. A female passenger suffered minor injuries in the crash.”

The crash remains an active investigation and the Sheriff’s Office is “actively following up on leads,” according to the news release.
