Man arrested, accused of attempted murder after Kansas hit-and-run

Hutchinson police arrested a man Thursday morning for attempted first-degree murder, alleging he hit a woman walking on the sidewalk with a car.

According to police reports, a driver called 911 just after 9 a.m. Thursday and reported that a car had struck a woman on a sidewalk near the 300 block of East 3rd Avenue. The woman was taken to a nearby medical center for treatment.

Later that day, police arrested a 41-year-old Hutchinson man on suspicion of attempted premeditated murder. He is now being held in the Reno County Jail on a $2 million bond.

The Wichita Eagle typically does not name suspects until they are charged.
