Police and SWAT are on the scene of a barricaded person Tuesday in north Wichita, police spokesperson Rick Pena said.

Few details are yet available.

The call started at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the 2300 block of North Somerset, which is near 21st and Amidon, while police were on a special assignment, according to a Sedgwick County Emergency Communications supervisor.

Around 2:13 p.m., the supervisor said no injuries had yet been reported to him.

“For safety reasons, we ask all motorists and pedestrians to avoid the area and use alternate routes while officers work to peacefully resolve the situation,” police said on social media at 3:16 p.m. “Further updates will be provided as they become available.”
