Man arrested in murder after body found in north Wichita alley, police say
A 41-year-old Wichita man has been arrested in connection with the Friday killing of a man whose body was found in a north Wichita alley, police spokesperson Andrew Ford said Wednesday morning.
The suspect, who was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder, lives in the same block where the killing occurred, according to arrest records. He was arrested in the 3900 block of South West St. at an address listed as a commercial business, the records show. That location is about 10 miles from his home address in the 2400 block of North Jeanette.
He was arrested Tuesday and booked into Sedgwick County Jail at 4:21 p.m., records show
Police on Friday said Ruben Parga-Quintanar was shot in the upper torso and was found by a person walking by that morning. Ford said Wednesday that they think he was shot in the alley on the east side of the road and then collapsed.
Police said the investigation is ongoing. They have not said the relationship between the men or what they think the shooting was over. The Wichita Eagle does not name suspects until they are charged.
This was the city’s 19th homicide of the year, according to records from police. There were 26 homicides at this time last year.
