Officers found Kashmire Tisdale fatally wounded behind a home in the 600 block of North Poplar at 1:31 a.m. Tuesday, Wichita police said in a news release. He had a gunshot wound to his upper body.
“Officers began life-saving efforts until Sedgwick County EMS arrived and took over. Tisdale was pronounced dead at 1:36 a.m.,” the release says.
“Multiple shell casings were located at the scene. Several homes and a vehicle were also struck by gunfire,” according to the release.
The police department said officers were patrolling near the 600 block of North Poplar around 1:26 a.m. when they heard several gunshots. The department’s Raven gunshot detection system also simultaneously alerted authorities to the gunfire and several people called 911 at 1:28 a.m., the release says.
“This remains an active investigation,” police said in the release.
