Man, 25, shot twice in upper body near downtown Wichita; police on case
Police are looking for a suspect or suspects involved in a shooting early Saturday that critically wounded a 25-year-old man near downtown Wichita, police say.
The man was taken to a hospital and underwent surgery. He was shot twice in the upper torso; he is expected to survive, police spokesperson Andrew Ford said.
Police were called to a report of a shooting around 2 a.m. in the 400 block of North Mathewson, which is near Central.
“Preliminary investigations suggest that the shooting occurred in the 400 block of North New York, where a fight may have taken place before multiple shots were fired,” Ford said.
