‘Gunfire was exchanged’: Suspect killed and Kansas deputy shot, official says

A suspect was killed and a Kansas deputy was wounded in an exchange of gunfire Friday when officers responded to a fireworks call, according to the Phillips County Sheriff’s Office.
The condition of the deputy was not given in a Facebook post at 10:40 p.m.
Officers received a fireworks call at 1st and East in Phillipsburg, a town of under 2,500 people.
“Gunfire was exchanged - a deputy was shot and was transported to the hospital,” the sheriff’s office said. “The suspect received life ending injuries ... We ask for prayers for all.”
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is assisting with the investigation.
