A 42-year-old Wichita woman was arrested Monday after telling a Wichita animal shelter employee she would blow up the building over a dispute about a stray dog she said was hers, according to police.

She made the threat over the phone before showing up at Wichita Animal Services, 3303 North Hillside, which is next to the Kansas Humane Society, police said. She was arrested on suspicion of criminal threat and in connection with violating probation. Court records show she was placed on probation in February for one year in a case involving drugs and criminal trespass; a police report says two suspects were found in the basement by police after tenants reported a break-in.

Around 1:45 p.m. Monday, the woman claimed a stray dog was hers but “had no proof,” according to a police report. She remained jailed Wednesday afternoon, records show.
