A former Kansas sheriff’s office corrections officer has been arrested and charged with child sex crimes, court records show.

Brice Berk, 36, of Concordia, was arrested Monday afternoon after he turned himself into the Republic County Sheriff’s Office, a Kansas Bureau of Investigation news release said.

Berk was charged with 12 counts of sexual exploitation of a child on June 18, 2025, a criminal complaint filed the same day shows.

“The crimes allege Berk possessed and distributed child pornography,” the KBI said.

The complaint says Berk unlawfully promoted “performance that includes sexually explicit conduct by a child under 18 years of age, or a person whom the offender believes to be a child under 18 years of age.”

The offenses occurred on Sept. 30, 2024, according to the complaint.

Berk had served as a corrections officer for Cloud County until March 2025, after a search warrant was executed at his home. Authorities found and seized evidence. They did not say what it was.

An investigation that led to the search warrant was started after a tip was sent to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Berk remains in jail on a $20,000 bond. Anyone with information on the case is encouraged call the KBI at 1-800-KSCRIME. Tips can also be submitted at www.kbi.ks.gov/sar.
