Several people were sent to the hospital Monday morning after a pickup truck crashed into a home in west Wichita.

Police were called about 6 a.m. to the 500 block of S. Meridian. Officers learned that a white Chevy pickup truck had been heading south on Meridian when it left the road and crashed into the home, Wichita police spokesperson Kristopher Gupilan said Monday.

The truck crashed into a bedroom, hitting an 18-year-old man who was asleep in bed. The truck continued into the living room, injuring several more people who were also sleeping, Gupilan said.

The 18-year-old was taken to the hospital in critical condition and was admitted into the ICU. Everyone else was treated at the hospital.

There was one person, the driver, inside the truck. No one was arrested at the scene but officers are investigating the possibility of DUI, according to Gupilan.
