Man dies after shooting in east Wichita, police say; no one in custody
A 24-year-old man died early Saturday morning after a shooting in east Wichita, according to police.
The man, whose identity was not released, was from Wichita, police spokesperson Kristopher Gupilan said.
Police were called at 3:47 a.m. to a home in the 14000 block of East Twinlake Drive, near Kellogg and 143rd Street East, to a shooting call. Officers arrived and found the man with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital where he died, Gupilan added.
Detectives learned the shooting stemmed from a disturbance between the victim and another person during a gathering at the home, according to a WPD news release.
“The individuals involved are known to each other, and this is not believed to be a random act of violence,” Gupilan said.
At this time, no one is in custody for the shooting, which is being investigated as a homicide. Police did not give any details about the suspect or what the disturbance was over.
“Information regarding the suspect is still under investigation,” Gupilan said.
Anyone with information on the case is encouraged to call detectives at 316-268-4407 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111. Inquiries into Crime Stoppers remain anonymous.
