Authorities are looking for a woman who assaulted and fled from a deputy during a traffic stop Sunday morning in east Wichita, according to the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office is looking for 22-year-old Nevaeh Thompson, who is being accused of aggravated assault on a deputy, SCSO spokesperson Brandon Stitt said.

At 3 a.m. Sunday, a Sedgwick County deputy pulled over Thompson near Lincoln and Rock Road. During the traffic stop, Thompson informed the deputy she might have outstanding warrants for her arrest, according to Stitt.

“Before she could be taken into custody, Thompson quickly jumped back into her vehicle in an attempt to flee,” according to a news release. “The deputy followed her into the vehicle, trying to prevent her escape. However, Thompson managed to shift the car into drive and sped away, dragging the deputy a short distance. “

The deputy received minor injuries and is expected to be OK.

Thompson’s vehicle was later found abandoned in the 7300 block of East Indianapolis, near Kellogg and Rock Road. Surveillance footage from a home shows her running away from the vehicle.

Anyone with information about her whereabouts is encouraged to call 911 immediately. Anonymous tips can also be made to Crime Stoppers at 316-268-2111.
