Wichita man used Kik messenger to share child porn, prosecutors say. He’s guilty
A Wichita man who used a Kik account to send sexually explicit images of children pleaded guilty on Thursday to one count of distribution of child pornography.
In his plea agreement, 28-year-old Sebastian Grattan admitted he created an account on the Kik messaging app and used it to share child sex abuse materials over the internet. Prosecutors say he was in Kansas when he sent the illegal images on Nov. 25, 2023 — one of which depicted a man forcing a prepubescent girl to engage in a sex act, his plea agreement says.
The U.S Attorney for the District of Kansas announced Grattan’s plea in a news release. He is to be sentenced April 10, the release says.
Grattan faces five to 20 years in federal prison under the law, but a judge will ultimately determine what punishment he will receive after “considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors,” the release says. Grattan must also surrender a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 cellphone that he used to commit his crimes. He agreed to pay at least $3,000 in restitution “per identified victim from his entire collection” of child porn, court records show.
Grattan was indicted in April 2024.
