Kansas man, 40, arrested, accused of raping teenage girl, other child sex crimes
A Kansas man was arrested after being accused of raping a teenage girl, among other child sex crimes, officials said.
On Wednesday, Kansas Bureau of Investigation agents and deputies from the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 40-year-old man at his Arkansas City home, a Thursday KBI news release said.
The man was booked into the Cowley County jail on suspicion of three counts of rape, three counts of aggravated sexual battery, two counts of exploitation of a child, and two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior, according to the KBI.
Authorities opened a sexual assault investigation in September 2023 after a 16-year-old girl accused the suspect of raping her, the KBI said.
During the investigation, authorities conducted interviews, executed search warrants, and gathered evidence. The man’s bond is set at $500,000.
