Police looking for suspects after 2 Wichita banks are robbed hours apart Wednesday

Police are searching for two suspects — one who brandished a firearm and another who gave a note instructing the teller to give him money — in bank robberies two hours apart Wednesday, Wichita police Capt. Aaron Moses said Thursday.

Moses said police believe there are two different suspects.

Police were first called at 4:12 p.m. to Equity Bank at 7701 E. Kellogg after the suspect gave the note to the teller demanding money. The suspect then fled on foot with $2,000 in cash from Equity Bank.

The second call was at 6 p.m. to Intrust Bank at 1544 South Webb, which is just over two miles from the first robbery.

A police report does not say how much money was taken at Intrust.

“Preliminary information indicates that an unidentified suspect entered the bank and approached a teller, demanding cash while brandishing a firearm,” Moses said, adding the suspect then fled on foot.
