Wichita police identify man killed in hit-and-run, ask for public’s help finding suspect

Wichita police on Thursday morning released the name of the 48-year-old pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run Wednesday night in south Wichita.

Christian Zelenka of Wichita was fatally hit and found in the street when police responded to a 5:56 p.m. call about a person not breathing at Mount Vernon and Washington.

Zelenka died at the scene.

Police believe the suspect vehicle is a gray sedan. The driver fled the scene. Police are asking for help finding the driver or vehicle or any tips that might help solve what happened.

“Our investigators are still reviewing information and conducting interviews to establish an exact sequence of events,” Capt. Aaron Moses said in an email.

Police are asking anyone with information about the hit and run to call detectives at 316-268-4407, the See Something Say Something hotline at 316-519-2282 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111. Callers can remain anonymous with Crime Stoppers.
