‘Large number of cartridge casings’ in targeted Wichita shooting, police say. Three hurt
A “large number of cartridge casings” were found in a targeted shooting Wednesday morning at a house in north Wichita that left three people inside wounded, Wichita police Capt. Aaron Moses said.
A 43-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with critical injuries to her lower body; a 19-year-old man was taken with severe injuries to his lower body and 17-year-old girl was taken with minor injuries, Moses said.
No one is yet in custody, according to an update Moses provided late Wednesday morning.
The shooting was reported at 2 a.m. in the 1600 block of North Grove, which is near 15th. A neighboring house was hit as well but no one was injured at that home.
“Investigators are diligently reviewing all of the evidence in this case to identify and apprehend the offenders,” Moses said in an email. “This is clearly a case of targeted violence that cannot be tolerated, we’re working to understand why this residence was targeted.”
Moses said the three victims know each other. The two older victims live at the home, he said.
