Man dies after being shot inside Kansas apartment; suspect found in attic of home

A 29-year-old man died after being shot at an apartment in Pittsburg, Kansas, on Wednesday.

The shooting victim was identified as Fedor Lee Warren Lomax, of Pittsburg. A 25-year-old man was arrested in connection with the shooting, the Pittsburg Police Department said on Thursday in a social media post.

Police responded at 10:54 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a shooting at an apartment complex at 1116 South Elm Street. Officers found Lomax who had been shot inside the apartment. He was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries, the Pittsburgh Police Department said.

Detectives determined the identity of a suspect and went in search of him at a residence in the 300 block of East Park Street. They knocked, but no one answered.

A search warrant was obtained, and police entered the residence. Officers found the suspect in the attic of the home and took him into custody.

The suspect was booked into jail on suspicion of second-degree murder, felony interference with law enforcement and felon in possession of a firearm. He was also wanted on a Crawford County arrest warrant for failing to appear on a previous drug charge, according to police.
