Man’s body found in south Wichita park, the second in a week. Police rule it a homicide
A man was found dead Sunday in south Wichita in what police are ruling a homicide.
Officers were sent at 1:15 p.m. to the 3800 block of South Hydraulic after receiving a report of a deceased body. They found 53-year-old Marvin Walldren, of Wichita, slumped over. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Sedgwick County EMS, Wichita police spokesperson Juan Rebolledo said Tuesday.
The address block where Walldren was found is directly north of the Starlite Drive-In and is listed as Chapin Park on Google Maps.
On Monday, the Sedgwick County Coroner’s Office performed an autopsy and ruled Walldren’s death a homicide. Detectives are working to learn what led up to his death.
This is the second dead man found in or near a Wichita park since Friday. Police said 40-year-old Myron Tucker was found dead Friday at Prospect Park. Police said Tucker was shot to death, and a suspect, who later went on a shooting rampage, is in custody awaiting charges.
Police declined to give additional information about the incident. “Any additional details could compromise the investigation,” Rebolledo said in an email.
Anyone with information on the case is encouraged to call detectives at 316-268-4407 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
