Mulvane man sentenced in theft from Derby homeowner
A Mulvane man was sentenced Friday to stealing more than $50,000 from a disabled woman after first offering to clean her home, the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office said.
Jeremy Glenn, 35, was sentenced by District Court Judge David Dahl to three years and one month in prison after being found guilty of felony theft and possession of methamphetamine, the DA’s office said in a news release.
He was arrested in July on multiple charges, including possession of stolen property, according to the jail log.
Glenn met the 75-year-old Derby woman after offering to help clean her house, the release said. He used the woman’s checks and ATM card to gain access to her investment account.
He stole $53,000 – $21,000 from her bank account and $32,000 from her investment account. Dahl also ordered Glenn to repay the amount to the woman.
Glenn has been in and out of prison since 2002 for theft, drug and burglary convictions, according to Kansas Department of Corrections records. He was last released from prison in November 2013 following a 2011 theft conviction in Butler County, those records show.
