Wichita man, 19, wanted in Halloween shooting at QuikTrip that killed 13-year-old
Police are looking for 19-year-old Jermall Campbell of Wichita as a suspect in the Halloween shooting at a QuikTrip that killed a 13-year-old boy and injured a 15-year-old boy, Wichita police said Saturday.
Police said when located, Campbell will be arrested on suspected felonies related to the killing and the aggravated battery that injured the 15-year-old, who is expected to survive, police said.
Police were called about the shooting about the same time the Wichita boys were taken to Wesley Medical Center by private vehicle.
The shooting was reported at 10:36 p.m. Thursday at the QuikTrip at Central and Oliver. The shooting happened during what police in an email called a “disturbance/fight.”
The boy who died was unresponsive when he arrived at the hospital. He was shot in the upper body. He was pronounced dead at 10:48 p.m., according to Sedgwick County emergency communications. The other boy was shot in the leg.
