A McConnell Air Force Base airman was arrested Tuesday accused of child sex crimes.

The airman, a 20-year-old man, was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail at 12:40 p.m. Tuesday on suspicion of criminal sodomy with a child between the ages of 14 and 16, jail records show.

He has not yet been formally charged.

The airman is part of the 22nd Logistics Readiness Squadron. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on Nov. 20, 2023, and arrived at McConnell on March 1, 2024, a base official said.

Base officials cooperated with the investigation and turned over the airman to local law enforcement, who remains in custody.

“We will continue to monitor this case for any future developments and continue providing assistance to local authorities,” the base said.
