Man dies after being found shot in parking lot near downtown Wichita, police say

A 50-year-old man died after being shot Saturday night at an apartment complex in central Wichita.

Officers responded to a shooting call in the 600 block of North Topeka at 7:50 p.m. after a resident of the apartment complex called 911. They found the victim, Ronnie Wallace, 50, lying in a parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound, Wichita police spokesperson Kristopher Gupilan said Sunday morning.

Wallace, who is from Wichita, was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries, Gupilan added.

The man’s identity was not released, and the circumstances of the shooting are unknown. Police are still looking for a suspect as of Monday afternoon.
