A 64-year-old man who was supposed to be sentenced Wednesday in an August 2023 killing at a motel in Wichita didn’t show up for court and has cut his ankle monitor, police said Thursday afternoon.

Police are asking for help finding Kevin Lynn Harris, who pleaded guilty in April to voluntary manslaughter in the killing of 50-year-old Jose Lumbreras Sr. at Auto Motel, 1230 N. Broadway.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Harris was arrested soon after the fatal shooting in his hometown of Lawrence. He has previous convictions in the 1990s and 2000s in Montgomery and Reno counties for unlawful possession of a firearm, robbery, criminal damage to property and trafficking contraband, according to Kansas Department of Corrections records.

A woman was also arrested in the killing but has not been charged.

Anyone who knows where Harris could be is asked to call investigators at 316-268-4407 or make an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
