A 27-year-old Wichita man was killed in a shooting Tuesday night at a southeast Wichita apartment complex where he lived, officials said.

Quentin Gordon died at the scene.

The shooting was reported at 9:27 p.m. in the 4800 block of East Funston, which is next to L.W. Clapp Park.

“Preliminary findings suggest that Mr. Gordon was involved in an argument with another individual when the shooting occurred, indicating that this was not a random act of violence,” Capt. Aaron Moses said in a news release. “The investigation is ongoing as homicide investigators work diligently to follow up on leads and locate a suspect.”

Police were looking for black vehicle in connection to the shooting, according to Sedgwick County Emergency Communications scanner traffic.

This is at least the city’s 22nd homicide of the year, according to reports from police. There were 13 at this time last year.
