A woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash Monday in Newton, an official said.

Newton police identified the woman as 64-year-old Laurie Robinson of Newton.

Police think the crash occurred sometime between 6 to 8 a.m. on southeast 24th Street just east of I-135 in Newton, city communications director Erin McDaniel said.

Police are looking for a white Honda or Acura with damage to the passenger side.

“The vehicle is believed to come over the 24th Street bridge and struck the woman early this morning, knocking her down the embankment” a news release said. A truck driver reported the death around 9 a.m.
