An argument at an Old Town nightclub Thursday night led to a shooting and an arrest early Friday morning, police said.

A 27-year-old man pepper-sprayed his 23-year-old girlfriend at an Old Town nightclub out of jealousy, said Lt. James Espinoza, and both were escorted out of the club.

The boyfriend was waiting for the woman when she arrived home in the 300 block of North Elizabeth. He fired a couple of shots into the floor, and his girlfriend contacted four men, who showed up at the residence. The boyfriend then pistol-whipped a 21-year-old man on the head and shot a 24-year-old man in the head through a door, Espinoza said.

Police were called to the scene a little past 2 a.m.

The man left on foot and was arrested later Friday morning near Central and McLean.

The gunshot victim was transported to and treated at an area hospital and was in serious condition.
