Police clarify details of incident at Warren Theatre
Wichita police offered a clarification Wednesday on an incident that was reported last weekend about a couple who said they were threatened in the parking lot of the Warren Theatre in west Wichita.
There was no couple, police say.
The incident happened early in the morning Oct. 11.
“After some investigation was done, there were two groups of individuals – males in their 20s leaving the theater when they got into a verbal altercation with some individuals in a car,” said Lt. Joe Schroeder, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department.
“The individuals in the car left the parking lot and the males (who had just left the Warren) began following them.”
At 21st and Maize Road, the people who were being followed produced a gun and waved it in the air, Schroeder said.
And that’s when 911 was called.
“We wanted to clarify because it was originally reported that it was a couple confronted at random out in front of the theater of the Warren parking lot,” Schroeder said.
