Police: Armed man arrested after driving to Wichita, threatening his daughter
He loaded his pickup with a shotgun, two rifles and a handgun and hit the road late Monday for Wichita, police say.
Along the way, he called his adult daughter more than once and threatened her, police said.
The 35-year-old woman had already been contacted by her younger brother, who told her that her father was on his way “to murder her,” Wichita police Lt. James Espinoza said.
Officers were waiting for him when he arrived at the woman’s apartment on East Harry shortly before 10 p.m. on Monday, Espinoza said.
Police are looking into whether the 67-year-old man has a history of mental illness. Officers found the weapons in the man’s pickup, Espinoza said.
The man was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of criminal threat.
