Police identify man shot and killed at south Wichita apartment complex
Wichita police have identified the man who was shot and killed Wednesday morning at a south Wichita apartment as 69-year-old James Gibson of Wichita, police spokesperson Kristopher Gupilan said.
Police were called at 10:46 a.m. and found Gibson with gunshot wounds inside an apartment at Seneca Place Apartments, 2116 South Seneca. He was later pronounced dead.
Police did not release many details during a briefing just before noon.
A woman who lives nearby reported hearing three to four gunshots as she walked to a restaurant.
Police say they are looking someone who may been involved in the shooting.
“The WPD is utilizing the necessary resources to apprehend the suspect,” a news release said.

This appears to be the city’s 31st homicide of the year, according to homicides reported by police. There were 27 at this time last year.
