Wichita man sneaks into hospital and sexually assaults three patients, police say

A 28-year-old Wichita man has been arrested on suspicion of three counts of rape after going into Ascension Via Christi St. Francis and sexually assaulting three female patients, Wichita police spokesperson Juan Rebolledo said Friday.

Miguel Rodela also got into a fight with security guards, battering two of them, after he was caught and before police arrived, Rebolledo said.

Police were called to the incident at around 1:57 a.m. Thursday.

Rodela was not a patient or employee at the hospital, Rebolledo said, adding it’s still unclear how he got into the hospital.

Citing an active investigation, Ascension referred comment to the police department.

Rodela’s charges are rape that involves “sexual intercourse with physically powerless victim.”
