Police identify 44-year-old man who was fatally shot in southwest Wichita overnight

Wichita police are investigating a shooting that left a man dead late Monday in west Wichita.

He was identified as 44-year-old Shawn Lahman of Wichita, police spokesperson Chad Ditch said in a news release.

The shooting was reported around 11:20 p.m. in the 1300 block of South Edwards, Ditch said.

Officers found Lahman in the passenger seat of a van, shot in his upper chest, according to Ditch.

He died at the scene of the shooting, Ditch said.

This is the city’s seventh homicide of the year, according to records kept by The Eagle. There were 16 by this time last year.
