Police: 19 handguns stolen from Rock Road apartment

Someone stole nearly two dozen handguns from a man’s apartment earlier this month, police said Tuesday.

The 53-year-old man reported on Monday that 19 handguns were missing from his apartment on North Rock Road, Lt. James Espinoza said. He had last seen the guns on July 4 and only noticed them missing on Monday.

When he contacted the apartment complex management, he was told the only people who had been in his apartment during that time period were maintenance personnel who had just been fired, Espinoza said.

Police have serial numbers for the stolen guns and are monitoring local pawn shops for activity, he said.

Espinoza called the crime “very concerning.”

“It’s very important for us to recover any stolen items,” he said.
