Two men were injured in a shooting Thursday in north Wichita, Wichita police said.

Several 911 calls were made reporting shots fired around 12:30 p.m. near 21st and Piatt. Officers arrived and found a man in his mid 40s inside a house who had been shot, police spokesman Trevor Macy said.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Another man, also in his mid 40s, walked into a different hospital in serious condition with a gunshot wound around the same time, according to Macy.

Police think both men were involved in the same shooting.

Detectives are interviewing witnesses and “several people of interest” to piece together what led up to the shooting, Macy said.

Police say several other homes in the area were struck by gunfire.
