Two injured in separate shootings overnight in Wichita

Police are investigating two overnight shootings in Wichita.

The first one happened at about midnight Saturday in the 5500 block of East Lincoln, near Edgemoor. A 22-year-old man told police he was walking eastward when he heard several gunshots, said Sgt. Brian Sigman of the Wichita Police Department on Sunday. The man told police the shots scared him so he started to run; he then realized that his left hand had been shot. He was taken to Via Christi Hospital St. Joseph in a private vehicle, where he was treated for his injuries. Police have no suspect information.

Also, an 18-year-old woman reported that she was shot in the torso during a drive-by shooting that happened at about 3:15 a.m. Sunday in the 4400 block of East Bayley, near Lincoln and Oliver. She was taken to Wesley Medical Center and is being treated. She listed several possible suspects, but no arrests have been made, Sigman said.
