Twin brothers booked into jail accused of child sex crimes, Wichita police spokesman says
Twin brothers have been arrested after being accused of sex crimes with children, Wichita police said Thursday.
Jail booking sheets show Amarrion and Damarrion Gilkey, both 18 and from Wichita, were booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on Wednesday on suspicion of two counts of rape of a victim under 14, two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and one count of aggravated criminal sodomy each, said police spokesman Trevor Macy.
The arrests stem from an investigation conducted by the department’s exploited and missing child unit. EMCU investigators went to a residence near 17th and St. Paul on Wednesday after being contacted by a girl saying she had been sexually assaulted at the home, Macy said.
The girl told investigators she had been sexually assaulted “on multiple occasions five or six years ago,” an email from Macy said. The victim’s sister told investigators she had also been a victim of the crimes during the same time period, according to Macy.
The brothers were taken in for interviews by the EMCU and then booked into jail, Macy said.
The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.
